The Rupin Pass Trek is a high-altitude Himalayan adventure that takes you from Uttarakhand to Himachal Pradesh through dramatically changing landscapes. How to reach Rohru village, Himachal?

  1. The Rupin Pass Trek starts from Jiskun village, located 85 km from Rohru town. Rohru is best accessed via Shimla. From Delhi, travelers can reach Shimla by Volvo bus, private taxi, or flight. The road journey takes approximately 8–9 hours, with frequent Volvo bus services available.
  2. From Shimla, Rohru is about 110 km away and can be reached in 3–4 hours by taxi or local bus via Theog and Jubbal. The route is scenic but winding, so an early start is recommended. Direct buses from Delhi to Rohru are limited, making Shimla the most convenient transit point.
  3. Pick-up at Rohru is scheduled at 1:00 PM. Transport to Jiskun will be arranged by Kailashrath Treks. The drive to Jiskun takes around 5 hours, and participants are advised to follow the pickup timing strictly.

Things to Carry

  • Trekking shoes : Carry water proof trekking shoes with good grip and ankle support. Do not carry sports shoes.
  • Three layers of warm clothes : Carry two or three-layer jackets, fleece jackets and a padded jacket.
  • Two/Three trek pants : Carry light cotton trek pants. Denim/jeans and shorts are not suitable for trekking.
  • Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit) : Full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.
  • Thermals : Carry thermals (top and bottom).
  • Sunglasses : Sunglasses are mandatory. There will be lot of snow on the trek and can cause snow blindness.
  • Cap : At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect yourself.
  • Water proof hand gloves : Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.
  • Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks : Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.
  • Headlamp/LED torch : Mandatory
  • Raincoat/Ponchos : At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall.
  • Lunch box and water bottle : Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].
  • Toiletries: Keep items like toilet paper, wipes, moisturiser and sunscreen.
  • First Aid Kit: Carry items like few basic medicines, few antiseptics and adhesives.

Itinerary

  1. Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Rohru to Jiskun, a charming village nestled amidst the pine-covered slopes of Himachal.
  2. The 85 km journey takes around 5 hours, revealing winding mountain roads, apple orchards, and panoramic views of the Pabbar Valley.
  3. The pickup from Rohru is available at 1:00 PM and ensures you reach Jiskun comfortably by evening.
  4. Upon arrival, settle into the Kailashrath Treks basecamp, meet your trek leader, and enjoy a warm dinner.
  5. The evening is reserved for a short briefing session and acclimatization before your journey into the wild Himalayas begins tomorrow.

✔️ Medical Certificate should be signed by a registered MBBS doctor and should have the seal of the doctor.

✔️ Original and photocopy of Aadhar card required. In case of Foreign Nationals Passport and Visa would be required.

✔️ NOC form with participant signature.

Who can participate ?

Anyone who is above 16 years of age with a good physical strength and stamina can participate in the event. Participants should not have any medical issues like Hypertension, Asthma, Diabetes or breathing problems.

Participants should prepare themselves before participating in the trek such that they are able to jog/brisk walk 5 kms in 40 minutes. Participants with a BMI of 30 and above need to get it below 30 before joining the trek.


Preparation :

Strong physical fitness is a must for any Himalayan Treks. Whenever one is undertaking activities like High Altitude Trekking, make sure that you are preparing yourself for the trek in terms of Aerobic fitness, muscle strength and breathing rhythm.
