How to reach Sankri village, Uttarakhand?
By Bus : Take a bus headed towards Sankri from Dehradun. Most buses leave between 5- 8am from Dehradun bus stand or railway station
By taxi : The distance from Dehradun to Sankri is about 200 km and it takes about 8 hours of drive. Cab services are frequent and readily available from Dehradun.
Taxi charges are between Rs 900-1200 per person depending on the vehicle.

Reporting time : Trekkers must report at Sankri village in the evening after 3 pm. POC details will be emailed prior to the event.
Things to Carry
- Trekking shoes : Carry water proof trekking shoes with good grip and ankle support. Do not carry sports shoes.
- Three layers of warm clothes : Carry two or three-layer jackets, fleece jackets and a padded jacket.
- Two/Three trek pants : Carry light cotton trek pants. Denim/jeans and shorts are not suitable for trekking.
- Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit) : Full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.
- Thermals : Carry thermals (top and bottom).
- Sunglasses : Sunglasses are mandatory. There will be lot of snow on the trek and can cause snow blindness.
- Cap : At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect yourself.
- Water proof hand gloves : Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.
- Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks : Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.
- Headlamp/LED torch : Mandatory
- Raincoat/Ponchos : At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall.
- Lunch box and water bottle : Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].

Itinerary
- Arrive in Sankri, which is the starting point of the trek.
- The distance from Dehradun to Sankri is about 200 kms and it takes about 8 hours to drive. Cab services are frequent and readily available from Dehradun (around 5,500 INR). Members can pre book their ride via operators in advance and can share the prices on a per head basis.
- Reach Sankri, the base village of Kedarkantha Trek by 4 PM. The entire trek route is very scenic and mesmerizing, with especially the last part in which we pass through Govind life sanctuary.
- Once at Sankri, members will undergo the registration process by 5 PM and will attend the briefing for the trek at 6 PM followed by distribution of items like Rucksack, Gaiters, Microspikes and Trekking sticks.
- Overnight at Sankri base camp.
Mandatory Documents
- Medical Certificate should be signed by a registered MBBS doctor and should have the seal of the doctor.
- Original and photocopy of Aadhar card required. In case of Foreign Nationals Passport and Visa would be required.
- NOC form with participant signature.
- Passport sized photograph - 2 no.

NOTE :Carry the above mentioned medicines with you, such that it’s easily accessible at all times. Take medicines only after consulting your trek leaders.
Who can participate ?
Anyone who is above 12 years of age with a good physical strength and stamina can participate in the event. Participants should not have any medical issues like Hypertension, Asthma, Diabetes or breathing problems.
Participants should prepare themselves before participating in the trek such that they are able to jog/brisk walk 5 kms in 40 minutes. Participants with a BMI of 30 and above need to get it below 30 before joining the trek.
Preparation :
Strong physical fitness is a must for any Himalayan Treks. Whenever one is undertaking activities like High Altitude Trekking, make sure that you are preparing yourself for the trek in terms of Aerobic fitness, muscle strength and breathing rhythm.
